DESCRIPTION:
Very lovely small cardboard needle case – holder shaped as a booklet, dating late 1800’s or early 1900’s, late Victorian or Edwardian era.
This adorable needle holder is hand crafted, the covers are made in pitted cardboard, made to be embroidered with cross stitch, it has an embossed crucifix on both sides and it has been nicely embroidered with flowers garlands and geometrical borders. Closure is made with bright green silk ribbon. Interior is lined in ivory color silk, there are some ivory color felt pages to pin the needles. Spinning is in green gros grain silk.
During Victorian and Edwardian era this kind of needle holders were hand crafted and used as small gifts and keepsakes for Valentine Day, Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries or other significative dates.
HOW TO USE IT:
This antique Edwardian needle holder is wonderful to add to your collection of antique haberdashery and sewing tools from Victorian/Edwardian era.
I also love to play with them in interior decoration, they display beautifully among other small antique treasures in a boudoir.
Of course it would be a wonderful Valentine day gift for a Victorian antiques lover!
CONDITIONS:
Conditions are good, exterior embroidery has no missing stitches, there is wear to the silk ribbon and one of the ribbons is missing. There is a holo stain to interior side of the bottom cover.

2 3/8″ by 3 1/2″ (6.1 cm by 8.8 cm), 3/8″ (1 cm) tall.
