Description

ANTIQUE chiné Silk Purse, garland of pink ROSES chiné silk Ribbon purse, French Gilt Rococo Frame with openwork iris flowers design.

DESCRIPTION:
Gorgeous handmade purse dating to early 1900’s. It is very difficult to find a purse made of chiné silk ribbon in this style, usually they are done in the drawstring/reticule style. This one is shaped as a purse with a fine gold (brass) scrolled, reticulated gilt rococo frame, with a design of iris flowers. The body of the bag is made in a wonderful chiné silk ribbon with a cream background and a pattern of pink roses garlands with aqua green foliage and pale blue ribbons. Interior is lined with cream silk and the bottom has a stiff insert sewn inside. The handle is made in fine cream silk ribbon knotted at the top with a bow on one side.
Really a beautiful example of a Victorian or Edwardian era purse/bag, perfect to wear, to study to collect and to display in your French inspired home decor!

CONDITIONS:
This silk bag is in good conditions for its age, there are no detracting stains, inspecting the folds within the purse, on the two sides there are some splits deep within the folds, visible to close inspection and mainly when you open the folds. Interior is in good conditions.

MEASURES:
Measures: 5 1/2″ long, 6 1/2″ (14 cm by 16.5 cm) at the widest point and the stiff base measures 4 1/4″ by 1 1/4″ (10.7 cm by 3.3 cm).
The ribbon handle measures about 6 3/4″ (17.2 cm) long.
