DESCRIPTION:
Antique and very rare French enamel kitchen funnel, base is in cobalt blue color, hand painted raised decoration depicta a bird with nest full of eggs on a branch of dog roses, the colors are wonderful, there are tones of grey, blue, light yellow, beige. brown, aqua green, white and green.
There are gilded filets and details, riveted and flat handle, riveted spout.
This funnel is very rare and very old, it dates to the late 1800’s, a true collector’s piece!
The bird with nest and eggs is a symbol of fertility, this funnel was surely part of a series of kitchen utensils, surely a wedding gift for a young couple!

CONDITION:
The antique funnel has rusty chips to the pouring tip, to handle and around the rim, in the interior and exterior side, to signal also two small chips located on two leaves, not very visible as the decorations are very busy.

Diameter is 5 3/8″ (13.7 cm), 6 3/4″ (16.2 cm) tall.
