DESCRIPTION:
Antique French cardboard box for soaps, filled with 3 original soaps still wrapped and scelled, Savon Fin Rose Thé, Maubert, dating to late 1800’s or early 1900’s. This antique cardboard box is really lovely with its green color base and the decoration of roses in tones of pale yellow and ivory. The 3 soaps are wrapped in pink paper and still have all their original labels.

SOME HISTORY:
Maison de Perfumerie Maubert was based in Grasse, the history of this brand is linked to this town and to the Isnard family. In the 15th century tannery is in full growth and the Isnard are traders in tannery based in Grasse.
But, beginning of the 18th century, the local economy evolves and the crisis of hides trade requires an industrial conversion through the soap and perfume business.
In 1740 the Isnard family takes part in this industrial conversion with Antoine Isnard, trader in perfumery in 1740.
In 1826 Léopold Isnard, husband of Madame Maubert, creates the « Isnard-Maubert » perfume factory. The labels of perfume bottles and some machines of the factory are presented at the MIP, Musée International de la Parfumerie, in Grasse.

HOW TO USE IT:
Very lovely antique French soap box from Edwardian era, wondercul to add to your collection of antique vanities and to display in your boudoir inspired corner!

CONDITIONS:
Good antique conditions, with lovely aged patina, some scratches and wear here and there, there is a rupture to the lid border, visible in my photos.

MEASURES:
Box is 8 1/4″ by 2 3/4″ (21 cm by 7 cm), 1 1/2″ (3.8 cm) tall.
Each soap has diameter 2 1/2″ (6.3 cm) and is 1 1/4″ (3.2 cm) tall.
