Antique French earthenware plate, hollow plate, transferware decoration in blue with all over Indienne flowers, Vieillard Bordeaux, 1845
DESCRIPTION:
Wonderful and very rare antique earthenware plate, hollow serving plate, milk white base and transfer decoration in tones of cobalt blue featuring all over Indienne style flower. The plate has the mark J. Vieillard et C.ie in the round stamp, this mark has been in use from the 1845. This wonderful decor is n.3 of the famous decors known as “Tapisserie”, as featured in the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Bordeaux.
CONDITION:
The plate shows one old rupture to the edge and one dark hairline shaped as right angle, in the area of the hairline the plate is tea stained; this plate is no more water tight. There are signs of use and age with craquleure effect.
MEASURE:
11 3/4″ by 9 1/2″ (30 cm by 24.1 cm), 2 5/8″ (6.7 cm) tall.
