DESCRIPTION:
Wonderful and rare pitcher – jug in fine earthenware, in French “Faience Fine”, base color is milk white, the pitcher has a very fine transfer decoration featuring villas in country landscapes, details are amazing, there are two women with a young girl, dressed in 1830’s – 1840’s style, walking in a wonderful garden and some cows grazing. This pitcher is signed by David Johnston and dates to 1834-1840.
David Johnston started his pottery in 1834 and sold it in 1844 to Jules Vieillard. Born of English parents, Johnston was Mayor of Bordeaux from 1838 to 1842.

HOW TO USE IT:
Really very special antique and rare ceramic pitcher to add to a collection of antique French fine earthenware!

CONDITION:
The pitcher is in good condition, there are no hairlines, to signal a very small chip to the edge of the spout and one stain to the interior side, not visible on the exterior side.

MEASURES:
5 7/8″ (15 cm) tall at handle, 6 7/8″ (17.5 cm) max width.
