Antique French ironstone small bowl & saucer, transfer decor in black with mythological scene, Bacchus riding a goat and cherubs, circa 1850.
DESCRIPTION:
Amazing and rare antique French small cafè au lait bowl with matching saucer, transferware decoration in black featuring a mytholigical scene: Bacchus is riding a goat, a cherub with butterfly wings ornates them with a flowers wreath, Cupid in the sky has a torch. There are hand painted colored particulars in tones of raspberry pink, blue, green and yellow. The bowl is decorated also in its interior. This antique smalla cafè au lait bowl and saucer are signed but the mark is unreadable so I do not which manufacture could have produced them. These two pieces are really very old, I think they have been produced in the first half of the XIX° cent.
HOW TO USE IT:
A very lovely addition to your collection of antique French bowls and earthenware, this precious bowl and matching saucer would surely be an outstanding piece and would enhance your collection! I have preferred to leave these two pieces together as I have found them, the plate is very lovely to display with the bowl, they would be great to give a special touch to your French home decor!
CONDITIONS:
Wonderful antique conditions, this antique small bowl and the matching saucer have no hairs nor chips. Perfect foot.
The saucer too is in very good conditions.
MEASURES:
Diameter of the bowl is 2 1/4″ (8.5 cm) wide, 2 1/8″ (9 cm) tall.
Diameter of the saucer is 5 1/2″ (14 cm).
