Antique French Ribbonwork Boudoir large FRAME, ombreè silk ribbonwork rococò ROSETTES and metallic lace & trimming, Paris Apartment Chic, ca years 1920’s.
DESCRIPTION:
Here is a gorgeous rare to find antique French large frame, lined in olive green damask silk. The frame sides are overlaid with metallic net in bronze color and decorated with a gorgeous garland of large ribbonwork rosettes made from ombreè silk ribbon in tones of pale yellow and pale pink, interlaced with a ribbon in tones of shaded pale green, the ribbon creates bows in the four corners and in the central part of the frame. Borders are trimmed with metallic passamentery trim in bronze color. The frame is suitable to be both hanged to the wall or it can stand up with its large back strut. Interior of this frame is entirely lined in silk damask, there are three flat pockets, trimmed with metallic passamantery, perhaps it was used in a lady’s boudoir to store embroidery threads or letters, hankies or other keepsakes? This antique boudoir frame is a wonderful example of Edoardian era elegant ribbonwork embroiderery, SO French Chic!

CONDITIONS:
Conditions are very good, there are some ruptures to the metallic net here and there, silk rosettes show some wear but are still very lovely, the back strut stands very well.
