Stunning antique French shawl or large scarf from the Victorian era, made of thin butter-colored cotton fabric. At the center, a large “ES” monogram is beautifully embroidered in fine cross-stitch in shades of blue and red. The letters are elegantly intertwined with a floral design. The shawl’s borders are printed with a floral boteh pattern in shades of red, pink, mauve, and sage green, reminiscent of the Indian cashmere shawls popular in that era.

41 1/2″ (115.5 cm) by 43 1/4″ (110 cm).
Condition:
The shawl has small holes and brown stains, with some old repairs. The printed pattern is slightly faded.
