Description
Antique French tin TOWEL RACK, Lustucru checks style towel rack, red checks rack for towels, vintage French kitchenalia, art decò towel rack.
DESCRIPTION:
Here is an antique French lithographed tin kitchen towel rack from the 1930’s with the famous pattern known as “Lustucru” checks in red and light beige.
The four labels distinguish a kitchen towel for a specific use: hands (“mains”), dishes (“vaisselles”), knives (“couteaux”) and glasses (“verres”). This was very useful before automatic dishwashers, when everyone still washed their dishes by hand and in this way it was easy to dry plates (which could be greasy), separately from glasses…and hands…and knives!
CONDITION:
This vintage rack for towels has a lovely antique patina, the hooks are a bit rusty but they are all intact, the labels are well readable, to signal some fading and scratches to the lithographed decor. This would be great to add a French retrò charm to your kitchen decor and of course could still be useful for its original purpose and hold four kitchen towels.
MEASURES:
Dimensions: 13″ (33 cm) wide by 3 1/8″ (7.8 cm) max tall.
