Description
DESCRIPTION:
Very lovely and sweet watered roses bag – purse dating to the early 1900’s.
I am not sure if this antique bag would have been used as a purse or to hold sewing notions. The fabric seems like a blend of cotton and silk, it has a cream background patterned with pale blue stripes, pink roses – buds that have a warp or watered effect and openwork stitching.
Both sides of the top opening are fitted with a small stiff round disc and one side is embellished with pale blue silk bows with a looped handle extending from each side. I’ve shown both sides of the bag in my pictures.
HOW TO USE IT:
A lovely, unique antique bag – purse to add to your Edwardian era bags collection, wonderful also to display in your boudoir!
CONDITIONS:
This antique purse is in nice condition with no holes or tears and the silk ribbons are in good condition, soft and supple with no dry rot or splitting. One side of the bag has some spots of light yellow soiling/age discoloration. The other side has no spots.
MEASURES:
The antique bag measures 10 3/4″ (27 cm) by 7″ (17.8 cm) with the ribbon handles measuring about 6 1/2″ (17 cm).
