Antique French worker shirt, peasant natural homespun linen coverall shirt / dress, antique French smock white linen collar, lagenlock style.

37 1/4″ (94.7 cm) length, the sleeves are 19 1/4″ (48.8 cm) long, circa 21 3/4″ (55.2 cm) chest width.

DESCRIPTION:
Stunning young men’s shirt / chemise, traditionally worn by French peasants and workers, dating to the late 1800’s.
This antique shirt coverall is made from natural color homespun linen, it has a white linen collar, the shirt has milk glass buttons.
The detailing is amazing, the button holes are hand-embroidered, intricate hand gathering at back of neck and cuffs, front flat pleats and square pieces of fabric added under the sleeves for easy movements.
The sewing work and construction of this shirt are a work of art by themselves, it is so incredible to see how the ordinary clothes, rough and rustic, were treated with the greatest care and sewn with utter skill.
