DESCRIPTION:
Very lovely antique German majolica plate, octagonal shape, white base and raised design of pears, in tones of yellow and green. This antique plate is signed Villeroy et Boch and has a very lovely interlaced rusty wire frame that gives it a very French rustic charme, rare to find. The handicraft of creating baskets and other useful objects using interlaced wire was very popular since 18th century in France and in Italy too, in the country side and in villages many artisans were able to create true pieces of art using this humble material.
