Antique ironstone French dinner plate, Sarreguemines Froment Richard plate, polychrome terre de fer talking plate with children, collectable.

DESCRIPTION:
Very lovely antique dinner plate, this polychrome ironstone – terre de fer plate has a beautiful decoration depicting a scene with a woman playing the violin and three children in costumes dancing and juggling, begging for alms.

This wonderful plate was designed by Froment-Richard aka Antoine-Albert Richard, there are his initials FR on the left, below, on the corner of the building on the plate. Richard was born in 1845. He worked with Barluet Creil Montereau Manufactory since 1876 and the Sarreguemines Factory. His main themes are around children designed within delightful scenes. The most known patterns are the “Service Parisien” for Creil Montereau and The “Enfants Richard” decor for Sarreguemines. Enfants Richard and Service Parisien pieces are exhibited in several museums in France .
The plate has the mark Sarreguemines U. et C. and dates to the late 1800’s.

CONDITION:
The plate is in good antique condition, there are no ruptures and no hairlines, it has a lovely antique patina with some darkening and tea staining due to aging and use. The plate has been drilled for hanging.

Diameter is 8 5/8″ (cm 22).
