The box has Italian origin, on the bottom is still glued the original gilded paper label of the shop Moriondo & Gariglio, located in Rome.
Some history of Moriondo & Gariglio Manufacture:
The activity of Moriondo and Gariglio began in 1868, when they opened the first shop with an attached laboratory in plaza St. Charles in Torino. Soon the spaces result too small in comparison to the volume of production, and Agostino Moriondo and Francis Gariglio build a new establishment from the greatest dimensions in the Street Artists 36. After the disappearance of the founders, around 1890 the factory employed over 200 workers, the greatest part women, without keeping in mind the personnel employed to the manufacture of the boxes and the department mechanics. The factory produces two thousand kilograms of chocolate a day, which is then turned into tablets, gianduiotti and chocolates. The finished products are manufactured then, and manually wound in paper stagnola, labeled and canned.
Moriondo and Gariglio is the first firm Turinese chocolates manufacture to export to the foreign countries: in the basin of the Mediterranean, in East Europe, in Germany, Holland, England, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, in South America, Asia and Australia. Moriondo & Gariglio manufacture earned many honors and international prizes during its activity. In 1924 the Moriondo and Gariglio merged in the Venchi.
