Antique Italian religious curtain for altar tabernacle, red silk hand embroidered with silk & gold metallic threads, sequins and trimming.

MEASURES:
16 3/4″ (42.6 cm) wide by 18″ (45.7 cm) tall including the fringes. The valance is 5 3/8″ (13.6 cm) tall at sides and 2 3/4″ (7 cm) tall in the center.

DESCRIPTION:
Wonderful Italian religious curtain with valance, small size, used for altar tabernacle, dating to the early 1900’s. These kinds of small curtain were used as ornaments for the niche which contained the Sacred Eucharistic Chalice and Host holder.
This lovely curtain is made from red color silk, the front side is divided in two panels, it shows wonderful handmade embroideries with stylized pomegranates, wheat spikes and volutes.
The embroideries in silk threads shows bright colors and beautiful shades, the wheat spikes and volutes are embroidered in gold color metallic threads, with gold metal sequins appliques. The small curtain is edged with gold color metallic trimming and gold color metallic fringes, two gold metal tassels embellish the curtain’s pelmet.
