Wonderful and very rare antique Italian book printed by Giunti & Ciotti in Venice, year 1609.
The book cover is in paper, spine has been covered with hand painted paper showing a very lovely design of flowers, painted with water colors tecnique, in tones of beige, honey, blush pink and orange. The last page of the book has handwritten notes and numbers.
This antique book is really interesting, it is a collection of letters written by Giovanni Francesco Peranda, a private secretary of the important Roman family Caetani.
The fame of Giovanni Francesco Peranda is mainly due to this book of letters, it came out in Venice in 1601 with a dedication to Cornelia Orsini, daughter of Virginio and Giovanna Caetani. Followed countless reprints, this collection marked the principle of the kind of letters of secretaries. The career of Peranda is linked to the family Caetani, he offered his services to Cardinal Niccolò Caetani and near Caetani lived the rest of his life, which, without any of glaring facts, represents the prototype of the baroque era secretary willing to make himself a single person with the needs of his master.
