Description
✦ Edwardian Silk Blouse – Early 1900s
This authentic Edwardian silk blouse dates to the early 1900s and is crafted from delicate lilac silk chiffon, richly adorned with handmade Irish crochet lace in a soft beige tone.
The lace decoration is exceptionally refined, featuring butterfly motifs on each side and a large central flower with three-dimensional pistils, a striking example of early 20th-century lace artistry.
✦ Design & Construction
The blouse features elegant pleated detailing on the front, repeated on the back, shoulders, and three-quarter length sleeves, which are finished with a pleated ruffle cuff.
The interior is lined with beige tulle, providing structure while preserving the sheer quality of the silk chiffon.
The back closure is fitted with snap fasteners, likely added at a later date.
The lower edge has been finished with blush pink silk trim, also a later alteration.
✦ Condition
Good antique condition overall.
The Irish crochet lace shows a few small areas that may benefit from restoration, consistent with age and use.
