I love dedicating time to the search for small and exquisitely vintage items that once graced the parlors and boudoirs of elegant Victorian and Edwardian ladies, as well as the young ladies of the Roaring Twenties, known as “Flappers”!
Perhaps what attracts me to this world is its absolute transience; often these objects are delicate and precious, and it’s a wonder how they managed to survive intact to this day. They bear witness to the ever-changing trends, shifts in the standards of feminine beauty, and the evolving role of women in society. They also offer a glimpse into the intimate and secret world of women. I will never tire of, nor cease to be amazed by, exploring this field!
From old perfume bottles with floral labels to powder and talcum powder boxes, from powder puffs to vintage hatpins, from hatpin holders to fabric-covered boxes containing lace gloves, embroidered handkerchiefs, silk stockings, and letters…
At times, I also come across vintage clothing accessories, vintage bridal accessories, antique costume jewelry, precious frames with old photos, lace or silk embroidered cushions and lampshades using the ribbonwork technique, vintage postcards, ancient little books filled with beautiful romantic images, small calendars, postcard and photograph albums, refined antique haberdashery accessories, and the contents of old sewing and embroidery boxes.
Each item is carefully selected and chosen for its beauty, its colors, and its ability to evoke emotions, dreams, and to create in our modern homes small jewel-like corners where we can display collections of these magical little treasures, crafting a retro and ultra-feminine atmosphere.
