Description

Vintage enamel kitchen towel holder, 1920s, marbled white and red, made in Czechoslovakia, French labels.

Charming vintage enamel kitchen towel holder with a marbled white and red finish. This towel holder is marked “Tchécoslovaquie,” indicating it was made between 1918 and 1938. During this period, there were Czechoslovakian enamelware manufacturers producing items for the French market. This towel holder features the words “Essuie-Mains” (Hand Towels), “Couteaux” (Knives), “Assiettes” (Plates), and “Verres” (Glasses) in red French lettering.

In kitchens of the time, these characteristic items were very common, useful for keeping different towels organized in an era before dishwashers.
